About Phillies Box Score

Phillies Box Score is a blog tracking the 2012 Philadelphia Phillies through a type of art I call a “Box Score.” It is a cool way to depict the result of a sporting contest based on the colors of the teams playing. In the end, they create a visual heatmap of a team’s success and tell the straight-up truth of what happened  in a season. You can tell when a team is good because their color will dominate the print; conversely, you get a wide variety of colors when the team is not so great.

On this blog, I will build one of these prints that I will sell at the end of the season in my Etsy shop, updating the image and adding a box after every game. I hope to see the Phillies season in a new light and feel the flow of the team through the visual abstraction.
